A generation reference guides the result; it is not automatically inserted into the edit. Put each reference in the slot used by the selected model or attach it to the Agent message, then explain what it should control.
Choose the reference path
- Agent request: select + for local files, or use Selection Mode to add
@references to assets, clips, time, Viewer regions, or Transcript text. - Video Gen: open Video settings → Input and use the visible First Frame, Last Frame, References, Image Ref, source-video, edit, or extend slots.
- Existing project media: drag or select it from My Assets rather than uploading a duplicate when the slot supports project assets.
Describe the job of each reference
State whether a file controls identity, wardrobe, product shape, composition, motion, camera, color, timing, audio rhythm, or only general style. Also state what may change. A reference without a role can be interpreted differently from what you intended.
When inputs disappear
Reference types and limits belong to the selected model and mode. Switching models or changing from Generate to Edit/Extend can remove incompatible inputs. Recheck every slot, duration, resolution, and credit estimate before sending.
For exact video limits, see Model Capability Matrix. For persistent project media, see My Assets — What is the difference between a Prompt attachment and project media?.
