Understand ChatCut

Web, Desktop, and Agent Plugin

ChatCut is available as a Desktop app, a web app, and an Agent Plugin. All three open an editable ChatCut project; choose the one that matches where your media lives and where you want to talk to the agent.

ChatCut Desktop

ChatCut Desktop is the recommended option for most editing work. It can work with supported files and folders on your computer, lets you use ChatCut or a connected local agent from the same editor, and renders supported video exports locally. On capable hardware, local export can include 4K and HDR. Desktop still uses the internet for sign-in, synchronization, and hosted generation. Download macOS for Apple silicon, macOS for Intel, or Windows.

ChatCut web app

Use the web app when you want to open a project immediately in a desktop browser. Go to app.chatcut.io, sign in, and edit with the built-in AI panel, My Assets, Viewer, and Timeline. Web exports use ChatCut’s cloud workflow and follow the export rules shown in your account.

ChatCut Agent Plugin

Use the Agent Plugin when you want the main conversation to stay in Claude Code Desktop or the Codex desktop app. The agent opens an editable ChatCut project in its Browser pane and works on that project from the conversation. You do not need the plugin when an external agent is already controlling ChatCut Desktop directly.

The plugin installs only in the supported desktop agent app. Start a new conversation there, copy the matching prompt below, paste it into the conversation, and send it. Do not send the prompt from Claude’s website, ChatGPT’s website, a remote web conversation, or the ChatCut web editor.
