AI Voiceover turns a script into narration. Use a voice from Voice Library or a custom voice saved under My Voices. The result is a project audio asset; whether it is placed on the timeline depends on whether your prompt specifies a destination.
What do I need before writing the prompt?
- First decide whether to generate AI narration or record your own voice. AI narration needs a final or near-final script.
- Choose a voice from Voice Library or My Voices. If none fits, clone a voice you are authorized to use first.
- Decide the language, tone, pace, pronunciation, and any clip, time range, or narration the result must match.
- If you only want to record narration, no prompt is needed; use the Timeline recording control directly.
Prompts you can copy
Read the following script in Mandarin with the attached voice. Sound natural and trustworthy, with a slightly slower pace. Place the result on A1 starting at 00:03: [paste script]
Create an English voiceover for @product-demo, about 20 seconds long, concise and energetic. Match each sentence to the current visuals and add the result to an available audio track.
Regenerate @existing-voiceover with @my-voice. Only correct the pronunciation of “Start creating now”; keep the rest of the script, pauses, and timeline position unchanged.
For timing-sensitive narration, state a start time, target duration, or the clip it must match. Avoid a prompt that only says “generate a voiceover.”
Choose a voice and add narration manually
- Select + → Voices below the AI composer.
- Preview voices under Featured or My Voices. Click Browse all voices for search, filters, and voice cloning — see Voice Library / My Voices / Voice Cloning.
- Click a voice name or Use on its card. This attaches the voice to the draft but does not generate audio yet.
- Add the script and placement instructions, then send. The generated audio appears in My Assets.
- If it was not placed automatically, drag it from My Assets to A1, A2, or another audio track.
Record your own voiceover manually
Click the arrow beside the recording control above the timeline and choose Voiceover. Confirm the microphone and countdown, then start recording. When you stop, ChatCut saves the recording and, depending on the entry point, adds it to the project or places it at the playhead.
What happens afterward?
AI narration uses credits; selecting a voice alone does not generate audio. Review pronunciation, pauses, volume, and sync, then move, trim, or replace the audio on the timeline.
For narration delivered by a presenter on camera rather than as an audio track, see AI Avatars / Digital Humans.
